Muscle Balance Assessments

Performance Physiotherapy offer Muscle Balance Assessments to their clients who are athletes looking to improve their performance and decrease the risk of future injuries. Muscle Balance Assessments assess the entire body looking for areas of weakness or tightness that can contribute to poor performance or risk of injury.  Previous areas of injuries are specifically examined to see if a full recovery has been made or if any other muscle groups or joints have compensated for this injury. These assessments are designed specifically to look at basic movement patterns and skills such as a squat, single leg squat, lunge, jump and land technique. These basic movement patterns are vital in all sports involving running, jumping and landing.  Proprioception or balance is also assessed and all muscle groups are looked at for areas of tightness. Specific attention is directed at assessing the ‘Core’. The core is comprised of the shoulder girdle (scapular muscles), pelvic girdle (buttock muscles) and lower abdominal region. Again in functional situations such as standing on one leg or a single arm wall press up as well as specific resisted tests and exercises. At the completion of the assessment exercises specific to the athlete’s findings are prescribed.  The cost of a Muscle Balance assessment is $100 which comprises of an hour assessment and exercise prescription.  Follow up appointments can be made to check and progress exercise if necessary as a later date and can be booked for $50.  Contact us at Performance Physiotherapy for more information or to book your assessment.
